Platform Support Status

Here are the lists of supported and unsupported platforms, as of version 2.5.

Supported Platforms

Thanks to the efforts of many helpful people, GLFW supports a great number of platforms. The following platforms are supported¹ by GLFW.

Microsoft Windows (95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/.NET Server)
Linux
SGI IRIX (5.3 or newer)
FreeBSD
SUN Solaris/SunOS
QNX
Mac OS X (10.2 or newer)

¹ "Supported" means that GLFW has been tested and run successfully at least once in the past. It is not possible to test GLFW on all platforms for every new release, so it is possible that support may be broken for some platforms. If so, the required changes to get GLFW running again should be minimal.

Ongoing Ports

GLFW is currently being ported to the following platforms.

MorphOS

Untested Platforms

GLFW has not been tested on the following platforms (at least not to my knowledge). They may be supported directly, or with very few changes to GLFW. I would be very happy if people with access to these systems could test GLFW on them.

NetBSD
OpenBSD
HP-UX (v10.20+ ?)
IBM AIX

Obsoleted Platforms

Due to non-existent community and developer interest in some previously supported platforms, they have now been obsoleted. If you're interested in supporting one of these and keeping them in sync with the GLFW API and supported platforms, please contact the developers.

AmigaOS (v3.1 or newer)
MS-DOS

Unsupported Platforms

Of course, there are many platforms that are still not supported by GLFW. Either beacuse we do not have access to them, or because there is little or no point in supporting them. Here are a few of the platforms that are not supported.

Mac OS 9 and earlier
BeOS
IBM OS/2 Warp
Microsoft Windows CE
